White Wine Week

While I sort out intellectual property questions I have regarding what types of interior design images I can post to my blog,  I have decided to make this first week all about white wine.  Up first: sauvignon blanc.  Come back tomorrow for my post about this crisp and citrus-y wine.

Hello

Two weeks ago I attended a book reading by Gretchen Rubin author of The Happiness Project and her talk & book inspired me to start my own happiness project.  In her book, Rubin wrote that while she was generally a happy person, she felt like she, simply put, could be happier.  In pursuit of that happiness she set out 12 resolutions and chose to devote one month of the year following each of those resolutions.

Like Rubin, I do consider myself a happy person, but as I get older I am more cognizant of how fast the months and years go by.   I am scared of getting so caught up in the stress, the setbacks, the nonsense that I miss the everyday happiness of life.

My first resolution in my happiness project is to pursue a passion of mine.  I love interior design and can spend hours browsing through magazines, blogs and books getting ideas on how to decorate my home or how to help others decorate their own homes.

This is a snapshot of a little nook in my living room.   You see that silver plated garden stool?  I drooled for it after seeing it at Plantation.  Unfortunately, not only was it way out of my price range, but I needed two of them.  After weeks of research and looking for a suitable alternative, I found nearly identical garden stools on overstock dot com for about one-third the price.  Score!!

I also love wine.  I love it.  I love trying different wines from different regions around the world. I love the color, complexity and variety of wine.  There is something so pleasurable about snuggling up in my chair, glass of red wine in one hand and a book in the other.

Below is a picture of a bottle of an ice cold bottle of rose I had on the first day of a vacation in New Zealand.   My friend and I were intensely jet lagged and bleary eyed after an 18 hour journey.  This wine opened our eyes with its crispness and flavor.  It was the first of many excellent wines we tried in New Zealand.

These are my passions and I hope to share with you something I love. I am by no means an expert, but I hope along the way I can give you some tips or ideas that can spark a bit of pleasure or beauty in your life.  These things make me happy.
